The New Tricks Case

Last month we showcased ciders from some excellent new producers and this month we’ve picked six newly released ciders from more established producers. They’re all quite different but together prove that you can teach an old dog new tricks!!

Bushel & Peck ‘The Dapper Apple’ (6%) Gloucestershire

We’ve always liked Bushel & Peck’s range as the descriptive names illustrate the different apples used to make the cider (eg Rich & Mellow is made from Cider Apples, Fresh & Crisp is made from Eating Apples). They’ve now produced a limited-edition range of single-varietal ciders and this is made from the Browns apple, which is a ‘sharp’ (low tannin/ high acidity).

Iford ‘Wild Juice’ cans (4.7%) Bath

Iford have established themselves as quality cider makers with a firm focus on innovation. They’ve produced a range of characterful but accessible ciders and are taking a lead from the craft beer industry by moving into canned cider. This is a medium session cider which is perfectly suited to cans being medium-strength, easy-drinking, with not too much tannin.

McCrindle’s ‘Fine Cider’ (6.2%) Forest of Dean

James McCrindle is one of our longest-standing producers, having started making cider the year before we opened the shop. He has always made consistently good cider and his recognisable branding hasn’t changed since it was first introduced. Now, with fresh new labels, this has brought his classic cider right up to date.

Rich’s ‘Improved Dove’ (5.2%) Highbridge

The word ‘improved’ doesn’t refer to the cider but the apple! This is a single-varietal cider made from an apple called Improved Dove. We’re big fans of Rich’s but we normally stock their blended ciders so were pleased to be able to include one of their limited-edition single-varietals. The Golden Years range reflects the best apples from each season.

Sheppy’s ‘Craft Perry’ (7.4%) Taunton

Most perry is produced in the Three Counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire but there are a few Somerset perries and this is a new addition to that list. Made from five varieties of perry pear grown in Sheppy’s own orchards, this is a good introduction to ‘proper’ perry for the uninitiated!

Tricky ‘Rainbow’ (6%) Blackdown Hills

A brand new cider produced from three varieties of apple grown in a single orchard and to which Matt has only recently been granted access. The cider is a light straw colour with low tannins and is slightly different in character from the rest of Tricky’s ciders. This was named after the iconic 70s rock band!

Award-Winning Craft Cider
2x UK Cider Retailer Of The Year
10 Years in Retail
100% Fresh Pressed Juice
Vegan & Gluten Free
Made in the UK
Bristol Cider Shop is the original independent cider shop in the UK, founded in 2010, to provide a range of craft ciders to both cider-loving and cider-curious Bristolians. Whilst some of the early history may be a bit hazy, due to a whirlwind of product tastings, having fun and learning about good (and bad) cider, the business moved online in 2011, to spread the word even wider. From the original shop, via the foodie hub of Harbourside, in 2020 we decided to focus online, to make proper cider available across the land. Along the way we were honoured to be awarded UK Independent Cider Retailer of the Year 2015 and 2018.

How quickly will I get my order?

We will ship all orders in 2 working days maximum, often next day.  Deliveries are only made Monday to Friday.

Can I request delivery for a specific day?

Unfortunately we can't guarantee delivery for a specific date, but will try our best to delay it if needed for a future date. Just add a note to checkout.

What happens If I am not in?

Because we are shipping a Licensed product (alcohol), parcels wont normally be left safe. One of 3 things will happen:

1. It will be delivered to a neighbour and signed for - the tracking will show a photo

2. Delivery will be attempted 2 more times to you

3. It will be taken to your local Post Office for you to collect, and a card left through your letterbox.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery is £5.95 for most of UK for your first case and then £2.95 for additional ones. Rather than hiding the delivery cost in the product price and offering free delivery (there’s no such thing as free delivery!) we’d rather be transparent about the cost of the product and the cost of the delivery.

Are there any places you cannot ship?

We currently only ship within the UK. Delivery to UK islands, Scottish Islands and Scottish Highlands postcodes may cost extra - delivery charges will be displayed at checkout. Unfortunately we cannot now deliver to Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands - apologies. Nor can we ship outside the UK.

I live in Bristol. Can I collect?

Unfortunately our licence doesn’t allow us to have customer collections on site so we can only take orders for delivery, sorry! Watch this space though for Summer 2024.

How can I track my order?

When we ship your order, you should receive an email from us containing a tracking code from our couriers . The quickest way to track your parcel is to follow the tracking link and this will show you the status of your delivery in real time. This will also allow you to change any delivery details if you need to. If you have any further problems, please email us at queries@bristolcidershop.co.uk and we will do our best to help. Sorry we don't have a phone number.

Can I add a Gift Message?

Yes you can, simply add it in at checkout and we will include it on a card. No paperwork is included in the boxes, so no pricing information is given out.
